This program has been a longstanding program at Kew Gardens Tennis Club. We run the full pathway of programming for children aged 3 - 16. We also run non-member parent classes for parents that have children registered in the Saturday Morning Program. To register for 'SATURDAY MORNING PARENT CLASSES FOR NON-MEMBERS' go to 'ADULT PROGRAMS.'

The following divisions/ball type run each hour simultaneously from 8:00am - 12:00pm. Parent and Tot programs run every half hour running from 8:30am - 12:25pm

Saturday Morning Program registration requires pre-payment & email confirmation for a Kew Junior Membership Fee ($35 + HST) payment prior to selection of the Junior program. Once you receive your confirmation for payment of your junior membership, please return to the Portal to select your program.

Please note that all cancellations and changes are subject to the policies below:

All cancellations must be made in writing by email.
Refunds, less a $10.00 administrative charge, will be issued for all cancellations up to 2 weeks prior to the first day of the session.
Refunds are NOT available within the 2 week period prior to the first day of the session.
Refunds for medical reasons are available only upon presentation of a doctor’s certificate, however, once the program has begun, no refunds will be issued.
Pro-rated refunds are NOT available for days absent, or other services not fully utilized. The full session’s fees are due and payable if a child is registered and attends any part of a session.
No refunds once the program has begun.

RAIN POLICY - PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING

Each program has a rain make-up date. If more than one class is cancelled due to rain there are no additional make-up dates and no refunds for that class issued.

If 30 minutes or more of the class has been completed prior to any rain it counts as a session and will have no rain make-up.

Through the 10 Steps Towards Rallying, kids will learn the fundamentals of tennis in a fun, play-based format. They'll develop essential coordination and racquet skills such as rolling, bouncing, and hitting—all while building a love for the game and a strong athletic foundation.

Parents participate alongside your child in a series of interactive exercises, making this a bonding experience that's as enjoyable as it is educational. Perfect for sparking a lifelong passion for sports!

RED BALL

Ages 5-7
Our Red Ball program is all about fun, learning, and building confidence on the court! Perfect for young beginners, this class uses 19" to 23" racquets and focuses on developing essential motor and coordination skills through engaging, age-appropriate activities.

In the first phase, kids will master foundational techniques like underhand and overhead throwing, catching, hitting dropped balls, volleying, and serving in a half-court setting. As they progress, they’ll start rallying over a mini-net, playing cooperatively with peers, and building independence. Through exciting games, they’ll learn the 5 tennis fundamentals—grip, setup, impact point, hitting zone, and recovery—setting the stage for future competitive play. Kids are grouped accordingly by age and level through this pathway.

In this stage, children embark on an exciting journey into the world of tennis, starting with basic exchanges from either the mini court or 3/4 court. We use 23″ to 25″ racquets paired with stage 2 orange balls that feature low compression for optimal control and comfort. Throughout this class, young players will develop essential tennis skills such as groundstroke rallies, overhead serves, volleys, and fundamental footwork techniques. This engaging environment encourages confidence, agility, and strategic thinking, setting a solid foundation for future success on the court.
