Kew Gardens Tennis Club will be looking for a Full Time General Manager

Kew Gardens Tennis Club [KGTC] is a non-profit seasonal community tennis club with 5
outdoor clay courts and 5 outdoor hard courts along with a clubhouse, located in the Toronto,
Beaches area. Kew Gardens Tennis Club has a vibrant and active membership consisting of over
2,000 Adult/Junior members.  KGTC is looking for a General Manager [GM], to look after the
needs of the membership, the Board, and the community.
Timing
The position of General Manager is a full-time (40 hours per week) position
In-season club hours fall within the timeframe of 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, seven days per week
Key Responsibilities
The GM will lead, manage, and organize all Club activities at KGTC as directed by KGTC
The GM will report directly to the Club President and will work with the Head Pro and Board
committee to offer the membership services required
The GM will ensure that all club operations provide a positive, welcoming atmosphere and
optimize club experience for members’
The GM will be responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and guiding various staff members.
The GM will strive to always deliver excellent customer service to all club members and club
guests
Club Administration
The GM will be responsible for all general club administration including supporting club
member check-in, on-line booking queries, ensuring valid court-booking and usage, club guest
check-in, and court cancellations on rain-days
Management and re-direction of club phone messages and returning calls
The GM will work with the Head Pro and the Board to create regular reports regarding member
activity
The GM will support the Board with the oversight, planning, and execution of all procurement
for the club and the management of club inventory (including wearables, balls, equipment,
general supplies), club house sales management (including wearables, tennis balls etc.)
Coordination and management of the monthly club expenses and submission to the club
treasurer. Management and submission of the weekly club log on Google docs – activities,
issues, and other notes are tracked and recorded

Building and Grounds
The GM will be responsible for maintaining excellent court conditions, overseeing clay and hard
courts. This will also include periodic repairs
The GM will be responsible for all Club House maintenance including keeping the bathrooms
cleaned and maintained, daily clubhouse cleaning/tidying up and general caretaking, taking
weekly garbage/recycling to the curb and working with contractors or volunteers for all repairs in
alignment with the Club budget and Board approval
The GM is responsible for ensuring that the club house is in top condition for members, events,
and tournaments
Event Management
The GM shall be responsible for the club’s social activities
The GM shall work in conjunction with the Junior Director and Head Pro ensuring Junior
programs/events run smoothly with the appropriate level of support
The GM will support the management of food, refreshments, and equipment
Ladders and Tournaments
The GM is expected to organize and administer the KGTC Adult Ladders and
Tournaments: 

  • Ladders for all levels of players to be run on a monthly basis
  • Tournaments to include the End of Season Tournaments and other events as

agreed, such as the over 55s Tournament
For clarity, tournaments do not include junior tournaments. However, the GM will
be required to assist the Head Pro with respect to junior tournaments as requested
by the Board
Team Tryouts
The GM is to attend and assist with Team Tryouts where needed
Communication
The GM will also act as customer service representative at the club to assist with member
support and smooth day-to-day running of the club

Other Activities
Participates in any other activities as agreed with the KGTC Board
Engage appropriate Board directors as necessary
Attend monthly KGTC Board meetings as needed and participate on operating
committees as needed
Role Requirements

  • Energetic, enthusiastic, friendly 
  • Conscientious with a sound work ethic
  • Previous management/administrative experience a must
  • Clay court experience an asset
  • Problem solving capabilities
  • Initiative and self starter preferred
  • Previous tennis club management experience an asset 
  • Excellent communication skills with high professionalism
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must be CPR/First Aid Certified/Smart Serve

Compensation 
$60,000-$75,000 annually, commensurate with experience
