Adult Lessons

Our adult clinics are high volume and designed to help you learn and advance your play as quickly as possible, feel welcome at the Club and learn the rules and tactics to compete in beginner or high performance play; Lessons will touch on all 4 performance factors (tactical, technical, physical and psychological) to make you a better player in singles and doubles.

Registration Dates & Sessions

Session 1 registration opens at 7:00 a.m. on Mon, Apr 7th, 2025 (Members) and 7:00 a.m. on Mon, Apr 14th, 2025 (Non-Members) for all 4-week Clinics beginning in April / May.

Subsequent Sessions will open at 7:00 a.m. on Monday 3 weeks prior to the first class (Members) and at 7:00 a.m. on Monday 2 weeks prior (Non-Members), as follows:

Costs & Fees

• Adult Program Sessions run for 1 hr once per week for 4 weeks throughout the season at a cost of $104 + HST (Members) and $120 + HST (Non-Members) - pro-rated for Holidays

  • Exception:​ Shot & Strategy of the Week - $26 / lesson (Members) or $30 / lesson (Non-Members) + HST - weekly online registration up to 13 days in advance (Members) or 6 days in advance (Non-members) via "Calendar Sign-ups" link, not "Adult Programs"

• All Costs and Fees are subject to HST

Participants

• Min 2 / Max 4* (except Doubles for Life: Max 8) - all HPTC programs subject to minimum enrolment
• *Join the WAITLIST at no risk, as we often add more spots and sessions based on demand and you could even receive a FREE CLASS when registrants are absent!

Club Rating Required

For Lessons to be enjoyable and beneficial for all, Registrants must receive an HPTC Rating to enroll (2021 or later) via a Club sanctioned Rating Session or Private lesson with one of our Tennis Professionals, prior to enrolment in any program.

Exception: if no Rating Session is available prior to a Session, participants should self-assess via self-rating (link) and then register for an official Club Rating as soon as one is made available or request one during their first class.

• Lesson Fees due to self-rating errors by more than 0.5 pts are non-refundable

• Registrants may only join their current rating level

• Registrants may be asked to switch groups in case of self-rating error

• A Club rating will be required before being accepted for subsequent Sessions

Cancellation Policy

• To avoid a 25% cancellation fee, a cancellation request must be submitted at least 7 days (48 hours for Shot & Strategy of the Week) prior to the first day of a session; Upon said request, a Club Credit will be provided (see Refund Policy below)
• Note: Missed lessons due to personal reasons such as sickness, injuries and vacations are not reimbursed

• ​Refunds will only be offered where a Club Credit cannot be used for exceptional reasons at the full discretion of HPTC

  • All Refunds will be subject to an addditional $28.25 ($25 + tax) Admin Fee

Inclement Weather

• Communication: Cancellations will be communicated to your primary / first listed Email on the same day of a session if rain or extreme weather is highly probable;

• Make-up Classes will be offered where available; if a make-up date is specified for any lesson, no Club Credits or Refunds will be available to those who do not attend;

• ​Club Credits for future programming will be offered if a lesson is cancelled due to rain or otherwise before it begins OR if a lesson is stopped before half of the scheduled time is completed and no Make-up Class was offered.

1.0-1.5 (Beginner)

This program offers the fundamentals of technique, movement and tactics (Singles and Doubles) - learn and train the basics that carry forward no matter how advanced you become - high volume training to get you comfortable playing right away! Progressive tennis balls and a reduced court size may be used to accelerate learning.

2.0-2.5 (Advanced Beginner)

Whether you are well coordinated, have an athletic background or previous experience with tennis, this class will help you advance all aspects of your doubles and singles play in a tactics-based setting that covers all phases of play from starting the point to finishing with an emphatic overhead smash.

3.0 (Intermediate)

As you progress through the ranks, this class will help you move, anticipate, and out-play your opponents from the baseline and net by becoming more effective with both serves and by expanding your tactical tennis with new patterns of play.

Focus in on strategic phases of play, make better decisions and tweak your game technically to compete with the so-called "A" players.

Tennis Movement & Fitness

Dynamic training with high volume basket-feeding, tennis movement patterns and drills, plus live ball competitive play to tie it all together.

Tennis excercise and footwork equipment will be incorporated during this intense anaerobic session.
